私たちがロンドンに着いて1週間になります。ジャクソンさんところの子供たちが私たちを案内してくれます。今日は自分のペースで楽しみたかったので、私一人で観光することにしたのですが、町をよく知らないので、どの道を行けばよいのか、どのバスに乗ればよいのかを人に尋ねなければなりませんでした。
初めに国立肖像画美術館へ行きました。壁は王や女王、軍の英雄、俳優などの有名な人たちの肖像画で 完全に埋め尽くされていました。とてもたくさんの顔に圧倒されて、少し目眩がしました。

ロンドンは何でも高価です。
コーヒー1杯ですらニューヨークよりもずっと高いのです。
ところで、紅茶を注文すると「ブラックにしますか、ホワイトにしますか?」と聞かれました。
それは「ミルクがいるか、いらないか?」という意味です。
30分ほどお茶を楽しんだ後、レスタースクエアへお土産を買いに行きました。前に大きなユニオンジャックがプリントされた素敵なTシャツを買いました。
